Further promotional levels above Trainee Research Executive are:

Research Executive
The focus is to conduct data collection and to assist in the analysis and interpretation of all types of data. In addition, Research Executives may be required to undertake certain elements of day-to-day project management (usually on tracking studies) under the management of more senior staff.

Senior Research Executive
SREs combine many of the data collection and analysis tasks undertaken by Research Executives with responsibility for the project management of small and medium scale projects or elements of larger more complex projects.

Project Manager
The key role is the day-to-day management of multiple research projects with minimal supervisory input from the relevant account manager. In addition, Project Managers are likely to assist Board members and Associate Directors with sales work such as drafting proposals.

Associate Director
The duties unite the dual roles of direct management of large projects with the development of a sales and account function - typically for minor accounts or by taking joint responsibility with a Board member for a more important account.

Research Director
The responsibilities combine the direct management of large clients with a sales and account function - typically for important major accounts, or by managing research staff to take joint responsibility for more minor accounts. Research Directors will be given a sales target and be responsible for meeting this.
